Seems like barbershops are using inflation as an excuse to raise prices significantly. The place I went to for years (South Hills Barbershop) changed most of its staff from 2 years ago and nearly doubled the price of a simple men's haircut (from $14 to $25). Even Great Clips, the cheap haircut salon is charging $18. I just need a simple haircut that doesn't take them more than 15-20 min to do.

Are these still places left in the Raleigh/Cary /Apex area that are around $15 or so? If I'm being unreasonable, let me know so I can stop complaining!

Been doing my own buzz-cut for about 10 years, about every 3 weeks.

Using:
$60 Remington HC4250 Shortcut Pro Self-Haircut Kit, Beard Trimmer, Hair Clippers for Men (13 pieces)

Clean-up:
Use leaf blower out on deck, depending on weather, or use shower for haircut, prior to showering.

This, for most of my adult life. Actually wore out two pairs of clippers during that time

I wait for the Great Clips sale prices. 4 months between cuts but I’m not paying more than $8.99!

Great Clips runs sales every now and then if you can catch them. I only get a haircut 2-3 times a year so for me paying $20 - $30 is reasonable including tip. Keep in mind that their costs to stay in business like rent, utilities, labor, etc. are increasing too so it's not just about how long it takes to cut your hair.

Same been doing my own hair cut since 1996. Now I do my sons. People always tell me they love my cuts and compliment me. Shocked when I say I do myself. I use a Wahl Professional Senior Clipper and Wahl Professional 5-Star Detailer with Adjustable T Blade for edging around ears and neck. Also good on chest and down below. Get you some cleaner as well to use after each cut. Andis Andis DPD Cool Care Plus 5 in 1 for Clipper Blades

To OP: I'm not saying you are being unreasonable, but it always surprised me (long before pandemic and inflation) how inexpensive a simple men's haircut was. So at least in my mind, whatever the reason for the increase, it's an appropriate correction. That being said...I've been using a Flowbee since 1994. In those 28 years I have been on the receiving end of a thousand insults, and I'm happy to report that none of them were about my haircut.

I don't know about Wake County, but over here in Durham it seems most walk-in places close at 5 p.m. on weekdays. I used to stop by after work (I have a work at work job) but no more. I started cutting my own. With long hair it's not that hard and if I make a mistake I just keep cutting or wear my hair in a ponytail .
