Hadn't really considered that there's no actual park near Park Place / Park West. Maybe they're named after the three parkways crossing 54 -- Cary, Morrisville, and Weston?
Alas, we missed the chance for a mashup name crossing Preston + Weston.
Parkside is another missed chance: Cary Glen was originally called Panther Creek; the name stuck for the high school, but it would be a pretty cool name for the wider area N/NW of Carpenter.

"Pweston"?.....could get into some trouble with that one...
It also throws me off because I have a very "geographically oriented" and "map-conscious" brain....so the fact that they are relatively close to each other and that Parkside is west of Parkwest...doesn't sit right.
Exactly my issue! ParkWEST should in fact be WEST.
Parkside got BB's Chicken, a comedy club, etc. It's not all bad.
True, and also sushi at the park, a decent non-chain option. Haven’t been to that Indian-Chinese place, Wok on Fire. I guess we could get something good there. We need more apartments, but connecting to that 2 lane O’Kelly chapel rd? People don’t even know how to merge properly after the double left turn becomes 1 lane after the turn. All you need is more ppl coming out onto that road.
