Hi,
I have a week off in March, and was thinking about going to Raliegh to "check" if this is the place for us. So I have a plan, time -1 week, and now I'm thinking how to get as much info as I can in a week? Where to go first? Where to stay? Is Cary worth seeing? What other towns ( close to Raleigh) should I visit? And the most important where should I look for a job for my husband (carpenter)? Newspapers? Adds?
How did you do it? I know many people just got jobs somewhere else, so they moved. What about the rest? Did you just go and then decided on staying?
Any help will be appreciated.

This can be a hard question to answer nowing nothing about you. Wake County is pretty big and there are really nice places to live all over. Where to live, to me, would depend greatly on what you are looking for. You can find anything from downtown "city" living to being out in the sticks( you know, take the dirt road off the dirt road kind of sticks).
Good carpentry work is highly sought after around here. I have a friend that owns a interior trim business, and his biggest problem for the last 3 years is keeping GOOD help.

Once you decide on where/what you are seeing in Raleigh, don't forget a good map! Or better yet a GPS on your car! I wish I had one of these on my 1st visit to Raleigh.

There was just a thread with someone suggesting a good area map. (I'm not sure how to post the link but, it was posted at 9:29am today....scroll down). I had a very hard time navigating the area & wasted a lot of time getting lost.
