I’ll be visiting the Raleigh area in a week and would love some advice (scouting mission). Our budget is very limited our max is $250k. I’m looking public schools or a cheap catholic school (I pay $3000 per year in CT now). Any advice on great family oriented neighbors, greats schools, and anything else would be great. Thanks

If you are interested in the North Raleigh area, I would suggest you check out Falls River and Bedford developments located just off Falls of The Neuse Road North of I-540. They have homes in various price ranges, but usually have some styles that hover around the $250K mark. If you are looking for a more established neighborhood try checking out Durant Trails. It is in the same vicinity as the previous two.

There are many others, but I'm sure a realtor can better point you in the right direction. If you can be specific in what you are looking for, they can really help narrow it down so you make the most of your time here. Some areas of North Raleigh can be a bit pricey, but $250K still gives you some great options. Good luck!

Southern Durham or Northeastern Chatham county are areas you may want to consider. This area is building up fast, but still has reasonable prices. You should experience a lot of market appreciation in these areas. I live in southern Durham, near The Streets at Southpoint Mall. I love it here. I moved down from Massachusetts about a year ago.

You can find a good home with great public schools for that price range....you won't find a Catholic school for that price - they are very expensive in this area.
