Just an observation: There aren't that many people that post on c-d that narrow choices to Carrboro and Cary. Those two areas are about as polar opposite as possible, IMO.

Eh, I dunno--maybe they've already gotten address labels printed up that say "CAR..."
Carrboro was historically a much more blue collar town. There was actually a mill where Weaver Street Market and Carr Mill Mall are now, so many of the houses around were mill houses. For that reason, they are far smaller than the houses in Chapel Hill. At this point the land is probably just as expensive, but the historic houses on it have a very different history and value.
Historically is the key word there. Both towns have pretty much become the Marin County of NC now. They both steadily grow less affordable, and there's ain't much walkable left to the Triangle after that is gone, and it will be gone.
