Just an observation: There aren't that many people that post on c-d that narrow choices to Carrboro and Cary. Those two areas are about as polar opposite as possible, IMO.

Yeah, if you're looking at Cary, you're basically looking at Raleigh suburbs. Carrboro is much more rural and small town.

One thing to take into consideration might be the taxes and ordinances - Orange country is much more expensive than Wake.

Eh, I dunno--maybe they've already gotten address labels printed up that say "CAR..."

Historically is the key word there. Both towns have pretty much become the Marin County of NC now. They both steadily grow less affordable, and there's ain't much walkable left to the Triangle after that is gone, and it will be gone.
