We are hoping to send our daughter to Emerson Waldorf School for grades and would like to move closer to that area. Does anyone know which neighborhoods are within a 20 minute drive or closer? Our max is around $260k, and I would prefer something less urban with a decent yard. I don't want to reach out of my window and touch my neighbor's house. Thanks!!

Hillsborough and western durham are your best bets for you price range. Start by searching in you price range in the Forest View elemetary school district in durham, and the new hope elementary district in Orange. Lot of older homes will come up in your range, but there will be some neat properties to look at. There will also occasionally be a house in your range in Chapel Hiil, typically lake ellen or north forest hills area...again, these will be from the 70's or earlier and may need upddating
I'll also note that there is a cool neighborhood right around the corner next to Emerson Waldorf, as well as some individual houses on the same road as the school. Most are on wooded lots of about an acre, and some of these will be in your price range. Blanking on the name, but the neighborhood entrance is next to Spence's Farm. Not very much turnover though, just have to get lucky that something in your range comes on the market when you are looking.
Thanks. That helps me get an idea of where to start. Is the neighborhood called Heartwood or something like that? Someone from the school mentioned that name to me, but I haven't been able to find it online.
That's probably the name...the neighborhood I was talking about is off of Blackwood Mtn Road, and there is a heartwood road back in there.
