You can get good Cuban food in Carmens Cuban restaurant in the strip mall next to the Airport Mall. Also the Oakwood Cafe in dowwntown Raleigh (next to the main post office) servers Cuban and Argentinian dishes.
BTW, I'll check out the new restaurant in Cary as soon as it opens.

Havana Grill is the name of the Cuban restaurant that just opened at 404 W. Chatham St. in downtown Cary. It looks promising. newsobserver.com | Cary not Havana good time with palms (http://www.newsobserver.com/105/story/626285.html - broken link).
Many Mexicans in our area of North Raleigh (Brentwood). Great Mexican dining - try Las Margaritas on Six Forks Road for authentic Mexican food at great prices.

I'm interested in checking out Havana Grill - I saw the article and was excited to see they will have ham croquetas (hopefully that means I can get a croqueta preparada as well)! I found it kind of funny about the light-up palm trees - the thought of them gives me bad flashbacks of an especially tacky nursery located along a major freeway in Miami that had those things lit up at night. I definitely couldn't picture that scene in Cary, LOL!
We went to Oakwood Cafe once for dinner and, while the food was delicious, were disappointed that some of the old standby's weren't on the menu. It did come highly recommended by a Cuban friend of ours who has lived here for a while, though.
I've been seeing a lot more FL plates around town lately, so I'm sure there's more than a few Cubans in the mix!
MaiGonz you make me laugh. I am not Cuban but grew up in S. Fla and I sure do miss the Cuban food. My mouth was watering reading your post!! I would love a croqueta and a cafe con leche right about now!!
There is a very nice little restaraunt in Sanford nombrado El Rancho, por misnombre. But the food is island food like Dominican and Cuban. They serve a nice little drink called Mojito! Downtown, on Wicker street.
Lines are nice on paper, but they don't belong on God's planet.
Well my family & I just made the move on Friday. As of right now we love it. We moved to the North Raleigh area & it feels like we are gonna love this place. My wife is an American ( half Cuban background). I was born here as well but both my parents are from Cuba & I hold that isalnd very dear to my heart. I had read before that alot of Cubans were moving into the area but so far I haven't really seen too many of them ( we only been here 5 days & still haven't moved into the house we are renting). I'm sure once we are settled in we will start to see more Cubans around the surronding areas. Hopefully I will meet some of you Cuban folks in one of these fine eateries. Maybe we can exchange some stories of our love of our country ( or parents country for that matter).
