Does anybody know if this is some sort of joke?

"Parade organizers gave his wife the boot Friday afternoon, citing worry that children wouldn't be able to tell the difference between Claus and Mrs. Claus if both were wearing red and white suits."

It's not in the article, but I heard it... hush hush... sort of...

The dish ran away with the spoon!

Isn't keeping Santy's Spouse out of the parade just SO in keeping with the Holiday Spirit, Peace and Good Will, Glad Tidings, and all that?
I know on Thursday, most Raleigh citizens will give thanks that they were not offended by Ms. Santy in a confusing housedress.

A bit self-serving on her part, isn't it, as a newly elected school board member? She thinks she can just show up and march in the parade dressed as Mrs. Claus? And she sent out a PRESS RELEASE announcing her appearance in the parade -- WITHOUT the approval of parade organizers?

If she doesn't recognize the very real need for -- and respect -- the planning/scheduling/procedures/approval processes for a parade, the Wake County school system is in a heap o' trouble.

Hasn't she been in the parade in prior years as Mrs. Claus? Still, I agree with you - if she just showed up expecting to be in the parade, she deserved to get the boot.

According to tne N&O, she was in last year's parade -- but only because the parade organizers didn't know about it in advance.

What about the part where "parade officials even discourage people from wearing Santa hats."

WTF is up with that? Seriously? No Santa hats at a Christmas Parade? If parents cannot un-confuse (yes I made that up) their kids as to who is the "real" Santa then those parents have some serious issues. This could be the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

On a side note.....and yes I am stereotyping here but is Debra Goldman Jewish? I ask just because of the last name and if in fact she is...could that be the cause of her "expulsion" from the parade?

Yes, this article woefully ignored the presence of myriad issues that we need to have explored!
I demand investigative reporting!
Leave it to pot-stirring NRG to have the insight to muckrake cutting issues from the bottom of the primordial ooze...
BTW, I kind of like "un-confuse."

This is one of the strangest things I've ever heard.

Ok, so maybe she was banned from the parade because Debra did not go through the proper channels for parade approval and the press release before hand does seem political. If so THEN come out and say it.... Debra Goldman did not get prior approval to part of the parade. But to say children might be confused by having a Mrs. Claus and a Santa.... well..... that's just ignorant. Children are MUCH smarter than .... well the parade organizers and Ms. Goldman.
