Our new house is on well water (north of Falls Lake). Our water report came back, and the water is hard (9.41 grains). We had Culligan at our house in the midwest, and we were happy with it. Any others around here to try, etc.???

Thanks!

I always recommend Kinetico, especially their drinking water system.

They came out to our place when we first moved it. It looks like a great system--particularly the drinking aspect--but for what it costs we would have to be here 10 years to use the same cost of the PUR filters. We are more concerned with the drinking water and not the whole house.

We also had a culligan system in our previous life and think that the Kinetico looks much better...

I'll be having Kinetico and Culligan out this week, I hope, for their estimates. I think I only need the softener as the water tests look good, otherwise. I've already installed an under-sink filter for drinking water.

Any others to consider (just not the ones from the Box Stores)?

Thanks.

I used to sell water purification systems and I would check CUNO if I were you.

CUNO manufactures Aquapure. CUNO is one of the oldest water purification system manufacturers in the country. They typically do not have a sales force and market their products through plumbing supply places. So you have to know what you want and order it through a plumber. Here is their website. Fluid thinking from the world leader for fluid purification - CUNO

PUR and Brita-type filters are no comparison to RO technology. Like saying you can get ten McDonalds bugers for the cost one porterhouse.

Okay, another question. For those of you with Kinetico water softeners, where do you buy the sediment filter? I forgot to ask them if I have to buy their product or if I can find it anywhere locally. It's the "simple" filter, not for anything specific (don't really have a problem, but I can tell after 4 months that it looks like it could use changing).

Thanks.
