I just bought a house, and would like to run some data cable throughout, with everything connected via a patch panel in the basement.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a company that can do this in the Apex area?

I checked out 2 while searching for low voltage guys for our new build.....one was Wiley Systems in Cary; the other is New Wave Systems in Raleigh. I'm using both (1 for cable, data, audio and the other for hide-a-hose vacuum). They did their work last week and seem easy to work with.

I am not sure what you plan to use it for, but unless you are doing data intensive transfers between computers (in your house, not the internet) wired is the much more expensive way to go, vs wireless.

The only thing I use wires for are my Directv boxes to watch HD recorded on one, on another. Even for large file transfers from computer to computer wireless it sufficient (and may even be sufficient for Directv purposes).

(I probably don't have the whole story.)

Thanks for the info, guys. I know wired is more expensive, but wireless will not cut it. I'm a network engineer, and do a lot of work from home, data backups, etc. I need the speed that wired provides.

I will give Wiley Systems a look. Any other recommendations?

Can you private message me on how much it cost you? I'm kind of interested too. Thank you.

What ever you do, stay off Craigslist and the crackheads that troll there.

I have a box of CAT6 on the table waiting to get fished. It would be done already, but I have to crawl up to the lowest place in the crawlspace to run a couple, and I also haven't got a great location for the hardware, switch, routher, modem.

10/100/1000 and secure works for me, and wired will only be about $150-$200 when done, Depends on how much I can get for the leftover CAT6.

With Wireless-N technology you're getting a faster link speed than a 100mbps Fast Ethernet.

Sure. Agreed.
10/100/1000 being the key. No?

I *really* hate crawlspaces, so if you guys know of someone to do a decent job of pulling CAT6, please let me know too.
