Im in process of making a picture video of one of our
state's park

Im trying to think of background music the first thing came to
my mind was James Taylor "Carolina on the Mind".
but I want to support other local artists.

Not sure if it's what you had in mind, but I like:
Mandolin Orange on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads

They've got some instrumental stuff that might lend itself to a picture video. They're just two pieces, though, so not a "big" sound.
