Do you really expect a honest answer from the pro's? If they say "yes" we do conspire...they will get a lawsuit against them since that isn't allowed according the fair housing act, if I'm right....
Fair housing has nothing to do with whether or not an agent shows a FSBO property or not. FSBO's are not a protected class under the Fair Housing Laws.
Agents are more than welcome to conspire to not show FSBO's if they want. It has nothing to do with anything. It is a business practice decision. Many agents don't do buyer agency agreements like I do, so there is no guarantee of payment with a FSBO. No payment, don't show it. I know as an investor that you aren't letting people live in your rentals for free, are you? C'mon now, bentlebee, look at it from a BUSINESS standpoint.

I sell my homes FSBO, but give 3% to the buyers agentor 3% to the buyer if the buyer has no agent so either way I will pay the 3%.
This is partially true. I do prefer working with an agent, because I don't know what I am getting with a FSBO. Many FSBO's are fantastic to work with, but there are those that make your life painful.
The problem with FSBO's is they are hard to find. I appreciate the ones that actually advertise, but expecting me to search hard for your home when the MLS has plenty of choices makes no sense. Make it easy for me, and yes I will show it. Yes, offering 3% helps. It means my buyer doesn't have to pay me, which makes them more likely to want to see your home.
The moral is...make it easy and yes we will work with you.
You know once you get past Macaroni's serious grammatical errors, the guy is basically right.
Sorry, I couldn't even follow the first line of Macaroni's post. At that time I gave up and read the last 4 words of the post. So I'm guessing it was some mass generalization of realtors. Only a hunch though.
I haven't read through the whole thread, but just wanted to chip in my 2 cents. We did a FSBO for a few months and the realtors that did bring clients in were incredibly rude - one even made fun of a picture of my children hanging in the living room. Some realtors who brought people in were trying to convince their buyers not to buy our house the minute they walked in the door. When I tried to dispute something a realtor said (no , we do not get noise from the fire dept, they do not put their sirens on, please call and ask them) the agent actually rolled her eyes, looked at her client and said, "So say's the owner".
I wouldn't have been able to stop myself...I can hear myself now..."Wow, making fun of children, that is professionalism in action!" or "I actually like making things up, I haven't been involved in a lawsuit yet, so it seemed like a good time to try!" (emphasized with the roll of my eyes, of course).
Obviously, you want to sell your home, but rude people just need to be put into place. Many a zing can be said with a smile on your face.
I'm so sick of this...Darned if we do, darned if we don't so why respond? If we say no they say I don't believe you and if we say yeah then they cry bloody murder.
Most Realtors are honest hard working people.
No more crooks in real estate than any other line of work. In fact, less than most I'd say.
Realtors do not control price.
Realtors will show any home the buyer wants to see.
Realtors don't care if it's fsbo or low service though we'd rather have someone on the other side we know will do their half.
If you're going to quote fair housing or any other law then have a clue first what the law states first.
Read the posts on this thread objectively and determine who conspires against who and where the angst is. I think it becomes clear who has the problem with who.
Darstar - I couldn't agree with you more....there's no reason we can't all just get along lol. With all of the people that I come in contact with, I am always amazed by the number of people who don't base opinions on actual experience, rather what they've heard from someone else or ridiculous assumptions.
Just an up date; I sold my house ! For cash , no hassle. Ebay came through, for me , Took a year , and 1,000 in listing fees , but I did it !!
Will you back that claim up with something to support your opinion?
Actually my husband works in the car business and I'm in real estate. What a couple of slim balls we must be!
My husband hears the EXACT generalizations about his line of work and people are often SHOCKED to learn what we do in our professions because we "don't seem like those kind of people."
