Whoa...didn't realize I said anything controversial. Yikes, nobody said anything about agents forcing people to look at homes that they don't want to see. I have no idea why you started thinking like that.
From a seller's perspective, she is paying commission, including buyer's agent commission to get the house sold. This includes the agent marketing the home and maximizing exposure to other agents who have clients whose needs align with the home. Nothing controversial there but I'm sure you'll find something to disagree with. I think everyone knows that sales people are paid when they sell things...not by the number of unqualified buyers that they 'force' to see products that they are never going to buy.
Why do you continue to attack consumers on forums. If you have such a problem with consumers and members of the public, I think you're in the wrong line of work. Let the record show that I said something perfectly reasonable and in no way controversial and yet you still attacked me.
You didn't say anything controversial, just inaccurate. It's unfortunate that you feel attacked when you're actually just being corrected.
Honestly, a bonus isn't going to get me to show a house if my buyer has no interest. In fact, I disclose the bonus up front when we go see a house with a bonus, because I don't want my clients to think I am pushing them towards a house because of the bonus. The last house I sold with a bonus was from a builder. To be honest, I had forgotten about the bonus (about $2,500). When the builder pulled a fast one with my clients and the butler's pantry they thought they were getting for $3,000 was actually $4,500 ("oh, you wanted the cabinets and granite to MATCH the kitchen? That's extra . . ."), I threw in the extra $1,500 from the bonus because otherwise, the closing would have been delayed and my clients would have spent any extra money they had on a hotel for 4 days over a weekend (thank you, TRID). And I will be very, very slow to recommend the builder in the future.
We had a lsting for sale -- slow-moving luxury home -- where we offered a $15,000 bonus for a contract by a certain date. No takers . . .
