Maine, North Carolina, New Mexico, North Carolina, all different areas, all different laws. Call your local board and ask them if this was ethical or not. Thats the best advice anyone can give you. Look for your county's "Association of Realtors" and call to inquire.

Default update....

Following a meeting yesterday with our realtor and her office manager, we were released from our contract with the understanding that we need to pick another realtor from the same company. The realtor we are currently interested is from the same company so this worked out fine for us. Surprised to learn that we were unhappy with her, her question to us was "what do you think another realtor will be able to do for you when I am the top seller and sold 18 homes last month alone?" My husband told her after the last escapade with our difficult buyers, we just need a change and a realtor that has a little more personal time and TLC for us, adding that weeks without a phone call was not acceptable. "Well, if I had nothing to report to you, why call you and make you more depressed?". That was her answer.

Jeannie, how are things going. If you make a new contract, try to get it for a short time such as three months. I would also look for a company that has the house online in several different places. A lot of home buyers are looking online now. If your house is older, you may want to find a lister that specializes in older homes. They could possibly have more buyers looking for that type of home.

Just another possible suggestion: If you know some local newspapers, you may be able to put your own add in the paper even though it is listed with someone. Are there places in the area where you can post that the house is for sale, such as a community bulletin board. Please check with the lister before doing this. I don't know NJ law. You will probably still have to pay the commission to the lister, but the whole idea here is to get the house sold.

Thank you NCN, that is some great advice. Yes, our contract will end in August with the new realtor. We had to stay with the same company in order to take another realtor. Hopefully something will happen by then.

Congratulations on your release. Not all matches were meant to be and I hope this one works out better and gets your home sold. Frankly, it sounds like the last Realtor, however successful, had no class.
