We did close on the house and I will be filing complaints with the board about everything that went on. I was holding my breath for checks to clear and confirmation that the mortgage had been paid off. At least that went through. My calls and e-mails to the broker were never returned. I just thatk God nothing very serious happened. I realized how serious it was that the buyers had a 2 year old playing around a pool that we still owned!! The realtor still never owned up to giving them permission to move in, but in hindsight it's pretty obvious she did from her behavior. There ended up being some things missing or rifled through, so we'll have to keep an eye on our credit and everything to make sure this experience doesn't haunt us even more and learn from this for the next time. Let's hope that's not soon.
I have not been on the board for a while, because I needed to get out of town after all that mess and take a mini vacation!!!!
Wow, I have told my husband I am definitely not buying another house in Florida. I'm happy I'll be able to afford a nicer place somewhere else, but all the stress probably raised our blood pressures a bit. Really, if it had not been for the wise advice on the board i probably would have totally lost my temper and done something rash to make things wors. Thanks everyone!!!
I am so happy for you that everything finally closed. I'll ask again...PLEASE don't let it drop, please do us all a favor and follow through with your complaints to the Florida Association of Realtors...it can be filed here at www.myfloridalicense.com. In addition you can also file a complaint with their local association.
And don't give up on Florida! Trust me, we aren't all like that.
Thanks everybody. Palmcoasting, thanks for the link. =) I'd downloaded the Broward county complaint form, but hadn't gotten to the state yet. I will continue to follow up. I know how some bad apples can ruin the barrell and the powers that be may never know about it until consumers speak up. I'm sure this wasn't the first time she's pulled this, and someone else could've saved me from this experience. (Her record was clean, I did check beforehand)
Well it won't be clean anymore! And really, thank you for following up.
Enjoy! It's over. Amazing how life can be when all that stress is removed, eh?
