i used to think brands made a difference, but many new homes are being built with off brands, and are selling out just fine.
i believe people care more about the style of fixture than the brand.
When you're paying big money for a fixture, you're paying for the warranty.
I have repeatedly made painless warranty claims with moen, delta, and pfister. Their products are not any more reliable, but if you're handy, you save money on repair parts.

Also, even among the major brands Pfister generally tends to cost less than Delta or Moen.
No, not at all! It depends on the overall look, feel and quality of the fixture and standard of house. We're very concerned with aesthetics and we will replace a Hans Grohe widespread faucet with a Glacier Bay in our guest bath this weekend! The Hans Grohe has not performed well in that it frequently 'gunks up.' I'm really sorry that we bought it. A high-end home will probably call for high-end fixtures but a 'normal' home ... no way! It doesn't matter. The most important thing to us is has the home been maintained properly, is it clean? We can replace faucets all day long but you can't undo years of deferred maintenance or get rid of weird smells easily.
Perhaps in addition to the untested quality of some of these off-brand fixtures, there is also the potential liability issue if something goes wrong.
Oh, good Lord.

I turn them on and off to make sure they work properly. Knowing that faucets are easily replaced, I don't investigate the brand to determine "potential liability".

How many answers, and in how many threads, will it take for you to grasp the fact that for 99.999999999 percent of homeowners, it doesn't matter.

Nah. Let's stick to plumbing. What about toilet handles?
I would like to add something more to the discussion about plumbing fixtures. If I was buying a million $$ home, I would expect better than the $20 faucets to already be installed, but I know if I could afford the home I would gladly replace a fixture that I disliked the moment the house is mine.
