I used to get busted on by women I worked with for being in my 30s, single and having a cat. But I rescued a couple of cats as I thought it was a good thing to do. plus I could really give a rat's butt about what other people think of me having a cat.
I live with three large mountain cat pal's & three large doogie pal's. They have 80 acres of forest to play in, then BLM forest beyond. All are very loving friends.

That's cool!
I don't know if I think there's anything 'wrong' with a guy who has a cat. But I don't really like cats myself and so I am not drawn to people who like cats in general.

I think it depends on what one means by "liking cats." I have several that stay outside. i now have a Vietnamese family living down the road. We could have 2 completely different definitions of "liking cats!"
Homeless pets and rescue is very important to me - pretty much the most important issue. So, for someone I was going to spend a lot of time with, I'd want to see that they were doing their part. That means they'd have shelter animals or former strays, or some other unintentionally bred and/or previously discarded animals. At the very least, they'd be sympathetic toward mine. If that wasn't important to the other person too, it wouldn't be a very compatible relationship.
If you were a guy whose objection to cats was that they aren't manly, that's incredibly unattractive and pathetic.
I'm a single male and have a cat. Petsmart saved her from a shelter the day she was going to be put to sleep, and one day as I was there viewing the cats up for adoption, my ballcap brushed up against the cage as she was sleeping. She jumped up, did that thing that cats do when they are looking for attention (tail high in the air, sideways look) we made eye contact and I had to have her!
I like dogs too, but living arrangements call for a cat instead. And I've been in two relationships while having a cat - I've found that it's another neat little topic for discussion. I'd be chatting with the lady about her pets (dog and cat) and she in kind would ask how mine was doing on a daily basis. I've learned that I definitely prefer to be in relationships with fellow animal lovers.
