I never wonder because I readily presuppose they do NOT enjoy what they do, not in a sexual sense of the word anyway.

I know a few people in the porn industry, and it is like any other job.
They don't bring work home with them, (think like a teller, who deals with money all day,
when it's their own money they care, when its someone else's then its just paper)

Being a actor or a actress you always give up a portion of your own privacy, and get used to attention
when they are eating or trying to have private time.

Porn actors have major egos and attitudes, but its really more a protection for the continuous comments and leering and whispering that follows them.

Some porn "stars" have become entrepreneurs marketing their "brand" as well as investing in other things outside the porn industry and live very comfortably -- Many stay in the sex industry and do escort services / stripping / etc.

The bottom line is, that like in any other industry if your not stable, then that instability follows you everywhere no matter who you are, If you understand and are balanced you have your job, and you have your life, The twain does not meet.

Honestly, I feel sorry for porn stars. They are just there to serve other people's sexual wants and appetites. It seems very animalistic and base to me. I took a sociology class once and we were learning about the sex trade. A common physical problem of sex trade workers is "a chronic pelvic congestion characterized by a copious discharge from the cervix and vaginal lining, and a sensation of tenderness and fullness of the side walls of the pelvis" (Winick and Kinsie). This happens because the sex worker often avoids orgasm.

Not to mention AIDS and venereal diseases. Sex trade workers also become virtually asexual due to the frequency with which sex is work. These people also suffer much higher rates of anxiety, anger, hostility, guilt and depression than others.

Honestly, I feel sorry for waitresses. They are just there to serve other people's wants and appetites.

I find myself agreeing with Sifu Phil. They are just people like everyone else. They just happen to be in a career that few of us can relate to. There are plenty of careers I can think of offhand that I would find repulsive, and there aren't many jobs where you're NOT serving other people's wants of some kind.

I do know one porn "star" who does webcam shows. She seems to really enjoy her work, and enjoys interacting with her customers. Many are invalids who have no other sexual outlet, so she looks at it as a helpful public (or should I say "pubic"?) service.

I hardly think one can compare serving food to serving intercourse. My goodness. Did you ignore the rest of my post that is based on actual fact and research?

Yes, I did ignore the rest, since that came after the part where you came across as judgmental. I don't disagree with your "facts," just your attitude towards these people. And FYI, at least in the Netherlands, the rate of STD's among prostitutes is about HALF that of the general population. The STD card is overplayed as a scare tactic, IMO, though of course it should always be a concern for anyone who has sex.

They will try to take as much money from him while still denying him sex. It happens frequently by some of the girls I have talked with.

But honestly, I do not recommend a job in the sex industry. It gets boring and really sex is boring. After awhile you learn that you never enjoyed sex. But are doing it for some stupid reason. Like loneliness, money, etc. The person will come to and realize the act as nothing. And I think that is a good lose to have.
I think you're mistaking street prostitutes for escorts. There IS a difference - at least, among the higher-class operations. An escort is a social companion; they're good at conversation, are knowledgeable about a wide range of topics and can keep up with current events; they're charming and polite, and sex, while it may be a foregone conclusion for some, doesn't always occur on an assignment. Some people do hire escorts solely for the age-old definition of that trade - a companion and protector. It's only because of the rash of prostitutes advertising their services as "escorts" that the work has gained such a nasty reputation, and they only advertise that way (and have for many years now) because they found a legal loophole to exploit.

I don't know how you formed your opinion of sex becoming boring when you work in the adult industry. What, if you're an accountant you don't do your own books at home? You don't take care of your own kids, even though you're a nursery school teacher?

I think there might be a small amount of urban legend going on here, coupled with a smattering of envy. We like to tear down those whom we perceive as being somehow "luckier" than us - we create failings in them so that they appear more human.

But once again (and I currently work in the adult entertainment industry), I can vouch that not all sex lives are lost when you sign that contract with the Devil.

Besides your word what do you have to back up your claims?

I said I have used the services of prostitutes and escorts, while overseas. And honestly the sex can be boring and just plain dumb to do. Buts its done anyways. Its just my opinion, though.

If a female is hot enough to be a porn star and she can make good money, why not?

The only downside is your career will go downhill when your looks go downhill. And it might be hard to find someone willing to hire you for a "real" job if they find out about your history.

No one forces porn stars to do their job. They're free to quit. They're free to never become a porn star in the first place.
