The biggest thing for me is to be honest with them. I just smile and steer around it in a polite way that I've carefully thought out as to not hurt their feelings. If I'm not interested, I'm just not. I still maintain respect for them in all regards and will still have a conversation with them. Don't play games with people, it's just NOT NICE!

You see as a teenager I had the understanding that men and women frequently asked each other out in almost equal numbers. I think high school girls are a bit bolder because it's more like a game than women. I soon learned this was some sort of PC lie, and lo and behold, the dating game became even harder.
Don't think I have been asked out by a woman ever, although I have had women ask me to go to bed with them (but this is always after knowing them for a bit, so it's not like a stranger came up to me at a club and did it).
It's very difficult to tell if a woman is flirting, so I always assume she isn't. Men however make it much more obvious. I was with my ex and two gay men at their house having drinks and one of the men was obviously flirting with me in a way that a woman has never done!
I've been approached twice, asked out once, one of them was when a woman just leaned over and kissed me (I guess I didn't get the other hints). I didn't go out with the girl who asxked me out, mostly because I had a pretty heavy crush on another girl, but the other to I did go along with and we ended up sleeping with each other for some time in both cases.
Oh then there was this 4th time but she was really agressive and both me and my friends had spotted her hitting on quite a lot of guys way too strong in that same club just prior to getting on my case...So I don't know if I should count that, considering she also hit on all my 4 friends when she got rejected by me.
For me nothing is as hot as a girl coming on a bit more agressive than most, but still not slutty-aggressive like the girl mentioned last.
I'd say almost never. I used to get approached more in college but I went to a school that had an 80% female population. Now I live in downtown Chicago and there is no approaching of the man unless he's a tall, dark and handsom model with lots of money. Women have too many options chasing them already to be pursuing anyone.
