You could have had a nice little straight-free zone for yourselves.
I'm all for gay people having their own little area... but the cold hard reality is that gays are a small percentage of the population..... 8 maybe 12 percent.

What about every other group...... we suppose to have a chat thread for every group..... I don't mind if we did... pretty soon we could get pretty crowded with every single "special" interest group.

We didn't take it over. He knows I mean well. I think it is only fair to point out some of his good points instead of ridiculing the man for it. Some men who don't look straight enough to stand near a gay man and give NO ONE a doubt that they ARE STRAIGHT might though?

I don't harbor any ill will... just seems like an observation I have.... just look at some of the over-the-top gay guys and some lesbians just seem over-the-top as well.

Set me straight.....

No pun intended......
You asked for it. I presume you watch television...read magazines.....the majority of everything revolves around sex......ever watch any commercials.....sex sells.......and it's straight sex......boobs, butts and beavers. Women showing enough cleavage to rival any cantelope....you can't be serious. Ever watch a football game......those cheerleaders aren't there for moral support!

The thing is in the straight world you are oblivious to it...you expect it...you don't even notice it. As a gay male...I'm outside the mainstream.....believe me...straight society revolves around sex even more than gay culture. Since you are not used to seeing gay people on TV etc...it seems "extreme" to you because it's different and you are zeroing in on it.

Like that KY commercial for straight folks...give me a break! .

I did not want to seem aloof or like I was segregating gay posters....that's why I included questions from straight people too. Both "teams" see things a little differently and though I wanted a thread for gay folks....I thought this was a great way to interact with straight people and clear up stereotypes.

Most straight people I know are always full of questions and what better venue than a gay relationship chat thread. Many gay posters will be reluctant to post here...initially....I wanted them to feel welcomed as well as well meaning straight posters. This way the gay posters don't feel like some straight posters are "lurking" around to see how gays interact.

Even though I supported you in just having a chat thread, now I am going to mess up your thread by saying I have observed male gay people as being obsessed with sex . . . talking about it in public (at work, at restaurants). I don't think straight people talk about it quite as blatantly and incessantly. Also, in the mecca's (like SF), the culture is highly sexualized. Do we really need assless chaps stores?

And one more beef for the record, when I had gay friends (the main one died and the rest of them went away), they were really nasty women-haters. They made disparaging comments about women. They only did it in groups. That surprised me and made me realize that part of being gay for some men is the rejecting-the-female part . . .

One more point: It seems like being a gay male has a certain cliqueishness/club feel to it. Am I imagining that?

Lighten up......Don't you straight people have enough threads here....I've only seen a handful of gay relationship threads...precisely because of the hostility exhibited by some posters. Now you may think your posts are innocuous but I can sense that you are upset...that those dang gays started yet another thread of the thousands I' ve seen here.

Bottom line is Gay folks transcend all cultures and races......that's why we need a seperate thread. Most Blacks/Albinos and Eskimos are straight.....so they would not need a separate thread now would they?????

From my experience gays are a minimum of 10% of the population...I can't tell you though how many "straight" men have approached me throughout my lifetime...with kids too...LOL.....ever read Craigslist...GEESH....those "straight" guys want to do things I'd never dream of.

My point is if every guy who ever had sex with another guy suddenly turned blue.....well we'd see a lot more than 10% of the dudes looking sad.
