What does everyone mean by "these days?" When I was a kid in the 70s/80s, I saw quite a few girl fights in school. They didn't pull hair, though, they pulled each other's clothes off.
Hi Sonata36
I came from a small town, and honestly, none of this stuff happened...girls didn't physically fight with each other....I graduated in 67.
The thing is, they're not "teen girls" - they're hood rats. Big difference.
Creme, I'm surprised that you're so shocked at this; this goes on all the time, across the US, wherever teens congregate. Yes, it might be the parents' fault, but you can't disregard the changing social climate - as was mentioned, reality shows that glorify stupidity and nastiness; lack of social skills due to living on the Net; and last but not least the combat-zone living conditions that are Philly.
Have you ever listened to unedited lyrics from hard-core rap? They're enough to make ME want to go out and trash someone / someplace, so I'm not surprised that impressionable teens would be affected the same way.
Desensitization - it's the act of becoming immune to the feelings and rights of others. A pandemic catastrophe-in-the-making whose only hope of a cure lies in actions more brutal than what was shown on the video, but which will never be implemented because of the bleeding-hearts in this fair land.
As for the weaves, I see worse than that on Saturday nights in the girls' dressing room.
yeah your right, those reality shows are extremely trashy....and yet, they must get ratings cuz they're still on....
yes, I am surprised, really, I know it goes on, but to this extent? I just don't get it, why are people so angry? Life is way to short, yanno?
ummm...i live in suburbia and was jumped by 5 girls back in the early 90s. i was actually in the process of taking my girlfriend to the local precinct to file a report against them when they blocked my car in. I tried to diffuse the situation, but they wanted none of that. I went easy on them until one punched me in the face. That made me angry. so i beat the crap out of them. 2 patrol cars (4 cops) responded and gave me props for my work. :d
It all comes down to parenting. I'm going to go with nurture over nature on this one. Very sad.
Yah. What if one or both of the parents are absent in the picture? I used to see all of this stuff in high school and never saw one in college. Or maybe sometime it's just the girls that have behavior issue?
These young girls are animals, and what's worse, they're going to be parents some day? Unbelievable, actually pulling out each other's hair? What kind of parents did they have?
This isn't new, young people have fought like this all the time, but now days everybody has a camera, and they post what they filmed on the internet for everybody to see.
Personally, I believe that young people (especially males) should fight between each other, that way they can learn the HARD WAY that you don't start a fight unless you need to, and they learn about each others strengths and weaknesses.
As a matter of fact, just a few months ago I saw a fight break out among a pack of 14-15 year old males. I did and said NOTHING. About 10 minutes later, they were all laughing with each other and they went on their way.
Exactly. Idiots don't even realize their whole civilization (America) was FOUNDED on aggression and violence. Same with Europe (ie. The Huns, Goths, Saxtons).

I was going to say the same thing. I used to see girls pulling each other's clothes off and especially the bras. It was worse then guy fights.
People assume girls fighting, then they come from the ghetto/pj's. Not the case. In my city we have the mean girls. Some are inner city and some are suburb girls. Some hate to think suburban girls would behave in such a manner. I'm not excusing this behavior, but don't assume these girls are from the inner city. I don't know.
I make no such assumption. I know for a fact that there is a greater chance of encountering violent crime in a large city, especially one with a tarnished reputation like Philly, than in a small one-horse village.
I don't place 'burbs above inner cities except for median incomes, but money doesn't make you smart or peaceful.
I spent my formative years living in NYC; I lived in East LA where I was the only white boy in the neighborhood. I know big cities and I know the stats - it's required study when you teach self-defense. A group fight like that happens FAR more often in the inner cities than in KissandTell, Iowa. Hence, my call of "hood rats".

As far as rap is concern. Yes, blame the entertainment industry for the ails of these bad azz kids.
I'm not quite sure if you're being facetious here or not, so I'll withhold any reply.
