eHarmony doesn't think so, apparently. Their studies show that men want women to be at least an inch shorter than they are. Anyway, that was a long time ago, before they started doing those TV commercials. Doesn't matter anymore.

I just found it odd that they would send a woman who stated she didn't want children matches with men who do. Height differences can be worked out--wanting or not wanting children is pretty significant in a relationship.

Nope... I am pretty sure it was that.

I think it is a deal-breaker for some people, and it should be. Unfortunately it's an area where there can be no compromise and it's unfortunate to bring kids into the world when they aren't wanted by both parents... they sense that soon enough and it can be damaging.

That being said, the flip side is just as true. Just like some men will eliminate you for not wanting kids, other men will eliminate other women who DO want kids, or who do already have kids. Really, we all get eliminated by some as potential mates for something or another.

You might also consider putting that information in your profile... yes, you will get fewer hits, but the ones you do get will be more likely to be a match.

I think ethnicity has a lot to do with it. I teach graduate students, most of whom are in their mid to early 20's. I've had many discussions about having kids with my students. Generally speaking, the Hispanic students already have kids and want more. Same with the African-American students, though to a slightly lesser extent. Most of the white and Asian students don't want kids and can be pretty adament about it.

None of the foreign exchange students I get from Europe have any interest to have kids. The Italian, German and Swiss birth rates are in negative numbers and have been for decades.

In any case, in my experience with thousands of young people over the years convinces me that many men have zero interest in having kids. You shouldn't have any trouble tracking them down.

Carol, you should put in your profile that you don't want kids. That way you can pre-screen and weed out the other 4 guys on the planet who want kids before communication begins

The scary thing is what if a few years down the line and you decide you want kids and the other person still doesn't!!! You can never get back your youth and you wasted years for something you thought you wanted only to find out it is something you can change your mind to...

I am 33 and never had any desire to have them, so I doubt that is going to change.
