Because they aren't married, common sense. Marriage isn't just a piece of paper.

Because they proved they are committed to each other, living together doesn't mean anything at all. I had a roommate not long ago, maybe I could have claimed her as my so. Same thing except I wasn't having sex with her.

One would think being in a LTR (un-married) would require more of a commitment, since it's much easier to step out of it.

I can't believe couples don't poll City-Data before deciding to have a child without a marriage certificate. They have a lot of nerve doing what they want!
