I was thinking along the same lines - that my fondest memory of Penn Station was trying to prop up my drunk girlfriend in high school while we were coming from a concert, while riding the escalators. Two Penn Station cops are eying us up and down ...
Now GRAND Central Station, yoo god sumthin'! *slipping into native NY accent*
Saw lots of good concerts in Madison Square Garden and am so old remember the Felt Forum! Grand Central is only when I was broke and had to take #7 from Flushing because it was alot cheaper then LIRR!

The Felt Forum - there's a name to conjure with!
Floyd, Yes, The Who, Tull, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Elton ... there were SO many concerts. So many good times.
*sigh*
I was a GCS denizen since I took the Hudson River Line up and down from Westchester before I moved to the city. Mainly I remember the clock, the weird people and the bagels.
Sometimes I wonder if one day soon City Data will shut down for good. The members will try to log in as usual and all we will get is a page that says "website not found". I'll be a little upset if they shut it down right before I get my third star.

Cool, maybe you will be able to tell us if we are going down any time soon.
That's what she said.
Interesting tid-bit I just found, though -

So I suppose there are lots of advertisers that don't want to have their good names associated with the riff-raff on the forums.
... and yet we buy their stuff ...
C-D is (depending which stat you use) among the top 100 or 250 Websites in the U.S. in terms of unique visitors. Quantcast ranked them 80th largest in the U.S. this month.
Seems they use mostly Adwords, so with the number of hits they get that probably works out well.
DISCLAIMER: My little world on C-D is right here - I don't wander around much - too dark and scary. So I can very well be missing something with this casual glance.
