Nope. Wells Fargo is doing the same thing, except they are only charging $7. I believe the direct deposit has to be $500 to avoid the charge. That isn't a problem for me so I won't have to pay a fee, but it's the principle. Wells Fargo is also trying out a new fee in certain states...$3 a month to have a debit card. I believe it will soon be time for me to drop those bastards and go back to a credit union. I almost did that last year, but then I decided to move out of state so I had to close my credit union account and stay with these jerks.

I became a Wells Fargo customer by default as well thanks to Wachovia's mortgage debacle.
I've been thinking about switching also as WF started popping me $6/mo for using Quicken. So far they haven't started applying other fees............yet. I've been thinking about moving to a credit union or smaller bank, but it will have to wait seeing how I'm in relocation limbo right now.
Yeah, the automatic payments are kind of a PITA to change. I have every possible payment of this type on a credit card because of the cash-back in addition to the convenience. Unfortunately, I don't have such an option with the electric and water bill. The mortgage is another unfortunate story. It can certainly contribute to the cash-back quite a bit! I can see why they don't want to pay the credit card companies, but it's like one hand paying the other anyway...
I've considered setting up bills that way, but just really can't justify paying bills with a credit card, just a hang up of mine. Though, we use credit for all our other purchases to earn points.

What problem do you see...? I pay the card off every month - same difference.
