I was like most when it was over & she walked the first thing that hit me was " There goes 9 years of my life." Like any relationship/marriage there are good & bad times. The last 4 were terrible I bought a house thiking that it might save what was left of our marriage. Hindsight being 20/20 that's my biggest regret.

This thread makes me want to get married & I have a girl in mind!

I hope to marry my best friend one day. She and I have grown up together from the time we were toddlers and I'd like for us to be together and grow old together. A lot of long time married couples I know were childhood sweethearts and that's what my best friend and I were/are.

Been very happily married for 6 years, she's a keeper and I wouldn't want it any other way.

I have friends who are 40 and have been together since their early teens.
Wouldn't say they are necessarily 'happy,' though. They squibble squabble a lot.
Maybe that's their normal. I couldn't live like that.

Me...happy for 3 years o'marriage.

Marrying your best friend is a great way to go. Over time lots of things change, bodies get more feeble, attitudes modify, but being married to your best friend is something that will endure. I wish you well.

Married 9 years next month. Some months are better than others, but I would put us in the very happy category (with days of abject misery every now and then. ).
I kid - we have our challenges - it's not perfect, but I am crazy in love and there's no one else I would rather be with. It just keeps getting better and better (with the odd speedbump here and there)!
