Way way back, when I was young and single, before I was ever married, before I ever had kids...

There used to be this guy that I would see around town. He was super cute, and we always had this...flirtation...when we were in our cars. We'd see each other on the road, and we'd always smile real big at each other, and wave.

One day, I was at the store with my mom. We're checking out, go outside, get in the car (I was driving) and my mom says "Who was that guy who kept staring at you?" I hadn't even noticed...I was taking care of my transaction. Then my mom says "That guy right there, staring over at us" as he was coming out of the store. I laughed, smiled and waved and he waved back. It was the same guy. I WISH he'd spoken up.

Another time, I was at a bar on a first date with my first husband. My date gets up to go to the bathroom, and who do I lock eyes with, but that guy again. I don't know how long he'd been sitting behind my date...I hadn't seen him until my date got up. I could feel him staring at me...but I was flustered. I was on a date. I was the kind of girl that my date gets my attention...I don't make eyes at other guys when I'm on a date. I KNOW he kept looking at me. I caught him looking a few times.

We never got our timing right...but I remember the whole thing fondly. LOL

Old thread, but I'm pretty sure that they would feel uncomfortable if Brad Pitt, Idris Elba or someone else stared them down like they were a meal on the menu.

What motivated you to seek out this topic and revive this 7-year-old thread after not posting on C-D in several months? Just wondering. It's an odd topic. Are you ok?

This seems to be a thing lately. Maybe C-D is in the midst of a zombie apocalypse...

That's pretty much a spitting image of me when I see some good Carnitas.

*sigh* Yeah, the zombie threads. It's weird.

Anyhow. It depends, in my opinion, on if the guy can pull it off. Some can, many can't. It isn't about some arbitrary definition of "looks" for me any more than much of anything is, but all the same. An example in my mind of when a "predatory" gaze was actually pretty hot, was in the film Labyrinth. Like many women who were girl-children of the 80's, I had my share of swooning over Bowie. And no, it hadn't anything to do with his tights. It was the whole power trip thing. I get it far more since getting into kink, that's for sure. He even had a riding crop in the "Dance Magic Dance" song scene! Yowza! But that's not the one I meant, in context of this thread, it was the ballroom masquerade. And the key was, he was not just sitting in one place staring, he was prowling about, appearing here and there, always looking at Sarah. Now that was some masterful use of eye contact!

It was that one scene in the entirety of the film that established the concept of Sarah as not just some wayward teenage child, but a young woman on the threshold of adult sexuality, and he as her would-be suitor. It put an element of romantic and sexual tension into what was otherwise a children's story. And it was beautifully done.

Can just any man pull that off? No. I don't think so. But David Bowie sure could!
