I went and started a thread about my career issues. Maybe I'll get some inside info.

Any Medical imaging people here? I have some career questions.

I'd like to try and do it without loans...which makes it diffuclt. I'm thinking I need to get a job and earn the money over the next year or two and then apply. My goal is to be in the field before the oldest goes to college, we will definitely need the extra money then!

The field is a growing one, but technology promises the field will be doing more with less in the future. Hospitals are using networking & video to monitor patients from remote locations, this will eventually lead to staff reductions. Looks like the diagnostic side & ER is the place to be.
That is true. Even in the OR there's a lot of new technology that requires less hands-on treatment. Everything is being automated it seems and there are a lot of surgeries that are assisted or done by robot.

It's ironic how the old farts bash kids for playing video games, but thanks to laproscopic(sp?) technology they make the best surgeons.

Yeah me too. I'm happy to say that my son is 18 and now in college, and we never had an X-box, or nintendo....or any of those video game things. Heck we never even had cable tv. I don't know where people find the time for all that crap anyway. We were always too busy!

Still am, for that matter. Last weekend we were in NYC, for my annual birthday trip, and this weekend we are at a play in Raleigh. Next weekend is the ONLY weekend I will be home for Christmas shopping...it's going to be a busy weekend!

Love me some video games.

Without them I'd be bored to tears being sick right now.

Easy, they're not doing the things you are.

We had bought a Wii a while back, bought several games and decided afterwards that I neither had the time or the inclination to learn the games that are out now. Haven't used it since we moved in to our new place. My wife was using the excercise videos.

I got into online gaming a few yrs ago... did it for awhile, got bored after a bit.

It was sorta cool to be cranking some tunes at high volumes whilst I jousted with 12 yr olds

Things to think about I guess.

I've also worked really hard the last few yrs to become basically debt free. I'm not thrilled about spending 35 or 40k to go back to school. Like I posted earlier, going to school 4 nights a week from 6 to 10 just seems so damn daunting.......

IDK, I feel trapped.
Yeah, Chow... being in school is not quite like kicking back with 2-buck Chuck!

Also, such a substantial pay cut after spending all this money on that school and torturing your little head in the evenings and on weekends just doesn't sound all that appealing to me... Suck it up like the rest of us!
