I think we're looking at this from a biased perspective....our own, whatever that point of view might be.
The gist is: guys with social skills who can get laid for free; get laid for free. (aside from the expenditures of gasoline and cards & dinners for dating, blah blah blah)
Guys without social skills try really hard to get laid & they fail. Eventually, they might reach a tipping point. (pun intended) And they decide to go to a hooker & buy what they want, since it's the only way they can obtain it.
Just because OP has been improving his social skills does not mean that they're good enough yet to get laid the "normal" way. Sometimes it takes a lot to get a woman, you know?
Young people put way too much emphasis on sex. It's not that big of a deal. It worth waiting for someone you actually have a real emotional connection to.
As long as you don't have sex, you have a power over a woman or man. Why not hold on to that power? Why give it up? Do you play poker? Same thing.

LOL Are you serious? Sex runs the world! I don't know about women, but for 90%+ of all men, virtually everything they do comes down to the desire for sex with attractive women.
Think about it: why do guys want good jobs? Why do they want a nice house/condo and a nice car to go along with it? Why do they want nice clothes? Why do they strive to make more money? It's because they want to attract women. If men had no sexual desires, I'm pretty sure most guys would just live at home with their parents and not care one way or the other about their appearance, what kind of job they have, what kind of clothes they wear, etc. As a result, men wouldn't be driven to develop new products or come up with new ideas which means society wouldn't have many of the great things that it currently has.
