No kidding!

This reminds me of a scene from "It's a Wonderful Life." A holiday classic.

Remember the scene where the dance hall floor opens up and all the dancers jump into the swimming pool? After that, George Bailey is walking Mary home and shamelessly flirting with her, but he just will not "pull the trigger."

An old man observes this ritual from his front stoop and finally yells, "WHY DON'T YOU JUST KISS HER?" George Bailey becomes confused and says, "Say what?" The old man gets up and as he goes back into his house says in disgust, "Youth is wasted on the wrong people!"

OP, you have GOT to quit relying on your infernal text messaging to get anywhere. It is impersonal. If that girl said she wasn't into cell phones, then she's certainly not into texting! Try actually having a conversation with her. Try actually pinning down the details in person next time. It works something like this:

"Okay, so I'll pick you up at 7."

Sending her an occasional "LOL" "TTYL" or emoticon is not going to get you across the finish line.

I don't understand why you haven't made plans in person either. If you see her at work there shouldn't be anything stopping you from talking to her face to face.

Sounds like you got her number but you got no game.

It's pretty obvious to me this girl has ZERO romantic interest in OP and was just being friendly, quite probably because he is a work colleague.

When he began calling/texting, she realised what he really wanted and wanted to let him down without upsetting him and possibly, her job.

Which meant that she avoided his calls and didn't answer his texts.

No big mystery - just a young girl not wanting to mess up her workplace...and failing, because OP got the wrong idea from the get-go.

Maybe next time ask her out and arrange it at work and omit the phone exchanges altogether since she doesn't like the phone.

Call her on her home phone, it's the most reliable communications instrument she has. It could be true, she's not into cell phones and texting, such people do exist. I think she didn't get your text. Call the woman. She made the move, so there should be no doubt that she's interested.

You have hardly even tried yet, and you're already giving up? Come on, Whipper, you can do better than that!

No, because she's giving off what appear to be mixed signals, but could be just a failure of electronic communication. It wouldn't kill the OP to make an old-fashioned phone call to her old-fashioned land line, would it? *sheesh*

And if she does blow you off or make excuses, you can come back here and say "I told you so" to us optimists. But that would be very weird, for her to suggest doing something together, and then deliberately ignoring you or blowing you off.
