If I could, I'd cut her out of my life. So for now under circumstances, I try to keep my distance as much as possible. As long as I known my mom, she has cut me down on everything I do and say. That, and assumes the worst about people about what they might do when she barely knows them. It really irriates me. As I was growing up, even well into my adult years, she has tried to control my life and make me feel bad about myself and not let me make my own mistakes.
My friend has met her in the past. Not anymore. I try not to complain to my friend about her how she treats me and that she doesn't like him. Yes, he has made mistakes but nobody's perfect. Everyone has their own flaws.

I hate negative people, and stay away from them at all cost. Of course her being your mother makes it almost impossible, but if it were me, id tell her that im staying the he11 away until she tweaks her attitude. At first sign of negativity towards me, i stand up and walk out.

From your posts - you made it seem like you didn't.

What "issues" has this friend had in the past?

At 33 you're worried about what your mother thinks of your friends? I stopped worrying about what my mother thought about people when I got out of high school. How does she know his questionable history unless you told her about it?

Cant share details with your mother like that and expect her not to have an opinion.

Several run-ins with the law and you wonder why she doesn't like him? LMAO...

He sounds like a winner to me, sure does...

Ever think your mom is looking out for you? Even at your age, mom's do care... Some day you're going to look back and Thank Her...

I imagine it's because they live in a small town and everyone knows everyone else's business.

I could never live like that.
