Hey, I'm prone to check my e-mail or whatever if I'm at a restaurant, and I recognize that enough to try to stop it. But actively texting someone? Yikes.
Agreed, why people think it's socially exceptiable to text other people or surf the net while hanging out with friends or family members etc is beyond me.

Because they're probably doing the same thing.

I think your biggest problem is that the guy doesn't respect you enough to the point to where he rolls up his number on his napkin and throws it on your lap.

I don't know what's worse, the fact that he did that, or the fact that you're going to call him.

Grabbing someone's phone is nuts.

Being on the phone the whole time while you'e supposed to be hanging out with someone is rude.

You might not be that old, but it is obvious to me you had a good upbringing. Hopefully your parents never heard of Dr. Spock..

And to say you were just being nice to the guys? If you accept a drink, then you are pretty well obligated to thank them. Thanking them means talking to them. Half of the game of going out is to see if someone interesting shows up. People buy one another drinks as a way to get an introduction.

Just like any sport or game, social life in a pub has rules. Granted the guy broke a lot of rules, too. But you're guilty of thinking and behaving like an entitled brat.

ellie,

With this post you are moved to the head of the class. I couldn't agree more! It is obvious the OP is a young person with no experience in the dating world, and has the attitude of many other young people, that being, they are never wrong and know everything, with a whole bunch of excuses to prove they are right...

Wow 21 pages LOL. I agree with the OP in the fact that the guy behaved poorly. but I'm wondering why a self-proclaimed "people expert" wouldn;t have sensed that the guy was no good, and just declined his company. Of course, that would have mean turning down free drinks, so never mind LOL. God help America!!
