I just watched a bad movie that portrayed friends who had known each other since childhood and each year they met in a cottage for a weekend.

They were three men and three women.

You know of such groups? Are they real? What about sexual tension?

Although throughout my life I've had groups of friends, today I lost all contact with friends I had in my childhood, and just wonder if these friendships are real or just an idealization of the writer of the movie.

Some people have lifelong from childhood friendships and the two that come immediately to mind because I just read an article about them again is Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. They grew up together and are still very close friends even with their profession and lifestyles.

I still have a childhood friendship that is very, very close. We actually plan old age together as we're both single and likely to remain/end up that way.

I think you become bonded like brother and sister...therefore sex with that person is unthinkable.

I often tell my bff it doesn't matter how much I love her, I will never shag her.

I have friends from high school that I still get together with every year, both men and women. Our high school was small and 75 percent of us still stay in touch. We meet up once or twice a year. My female friends and I do a weekend away every once in a while.

I also have another group of girls that I worked with several years ago, and we meet once a year for dinner and also go on a girl's weekend away about every two years.

I have friends that I keep in contact with. Many of us have moved away so it's hard to see each other in person all the time. My husband has lots of friends that are still close since childhood. I would say of those friends he and 5 or 6 are very close and we see each other all the time and are always there for each other when needed.

I am still friends with four people from high school - 2 women, 2 men (one of the women and one of the men are a couple). We are not exactly "best friends" anymore but we still socialize. And at the same time, there are other high school friends I have not kept in contact with. I moved when I was in Jr High so from my elementary school, there is only one person I kept in contact with (my childhood best friend) but it's only through FB.

Friends DO come and go, it's a part of life, and no one should have the expectation that they will remain "BFF" with anyone in particular. If it does turn out that way, great... but most often, I'd say that while many people may keep in touch with childhood friends, rarely are they still the closest of friends.

All of my best friends in high school became drug addicts (one even died of an overdose). I'm in the military. So, unfortunately, I don't keep in contact with them.
