I hope this thread doesn't get merged with LS Juan's dating etiquette thread but seriously it seems like everytime the topic of how much dating sucks the blame always seems to fall squarely on one gender, men. Judging from the responses of that thread men are single handedly the reason that dating sucks these days while women are all saints. I mean I try not to vent on threads but damn, do I have to be vilified just because I'm a man? Do I need to pay for what other men have done to the women they've dated. It kind of pisses me off when women have been just as guilty when it comes to the devolution of dating just as much as men. There are horror stories that both genders have when it comes to dating.

So are men really the only reason why dating sucks nowadays?

I addressed this in Juan's thread but it seems people are sidestepping it. So I had to make this thread.

I, as a man, don't think that dating sucks

I haven't seen that whatever blame has been placed on men, in fact it's the opposite. It's more "women used to be good girls, and now they're skanks." Women are apparently supposed to be some sort of sexual gatekeepers, but now the gates are wide open, or something.

Dating usually only sucks for those that are looking for a long term relationship or a marriage partner. Those that enjoy casual dating, dating multiple people, and/or FWB don't seem to be complaining that much.

No. Both genders are to be faulted. Now, women make incredibly boneheaded choices in how they're allowed to be treated.

I mean, keep tabs on a few of these posters on here. They're on here all the time. One day it's euphoria because they've pretty much sealed the deal after dinner and a movie. Two days later, they're despondent because they've been dumped. It's really sad. You try and tell them on here that their lives are a train wreck and they go right back to doing things the same way.

I don't think dating sucks as much as I once thought it did, but it's still not my favorite thing to do in the world. Any way, I just made this thread in relation to LSJuan's and now I've requested it to be deleted. I honestly meant for this thread to be for people who think dating sucks.

In my opinion, it's the independent woman syndrome that ruined the dating culture. You have a lot of woman thinking that they dont need a man nowadays so when you approach them they dismiss you unless your a celebrity or athlete.

I blame society in general. We've become too plastic, too superficial and too mateialistic. Dating these days is like going to a job interview. No fun.
