A guy asked me out (second date). I told him that I would go but I would like to see "Les Miserables". He took me and we saw it together. But before the movie starts, he says, " I don't normally see this type of movie and it would be the first time but I would do it for you because I like you".
At the end, he said that he had a great time and would like to see me again.

Whatever he says, who cares? It's not what he says that matters.
Most guys I know wouldn't object to a movie date. No talking. Easy score on browny points.
Unless it's implied that Les Mis is the equivalent to Sex in the City, I'd say most people wouldn't mind watching that movie since lots of people like popular musicals like Les Mis or maintstream stuff, in general.
