OP, I wouldn't read too much into it. I am not sure how things are in Philly, but where I live, renting a house vs renting an apartment is a wash. The inventory of apartments is low and the number of houses is high--so rent is almost the same. So if someone says they are moving, one might ask in conversation if it's a house or apartment with no motive other than conversation.
And if she is just gold digging, you dodged a bullet if she didn't like your answer.

In the circles you presumably want to date in, there aren't. If you want to date in the shallow end of the pool, then sure, you can find women out there who will be impressed by you because they're used to dating unemployed men who live with their mothers. Given how much you complain about seemingly decent women, though, it would be extra comical to see what you would have to say about the ones with standards that low.
