I took a combination of your advice along with a few others who have posted. I let him know that I care for him a lot but feel as if things are moving too quickly. I think that he is ok for now but he did end the conversation with "luv ya"....and I cringed.
wow-does this ring a loud bell!!
after a 4th date.. after a roll in the hay, she got the big-o glow going, started throwing around
the "luv-ya's"
I dealt with this once and I told him I'd say it back when I was ready. The thing was, after that it was almost like he pressured me into saying it back and would say he loved me after almost every date.
Then how did you know so much more about love than she did?
I gotta say, my reaction was similar to minx's. If a guy said that to me, I would figure he was a narcissist.
i almost said the same thing back, so she didnt feel awkward, but i didnt mean it,,so i said what popped into my mind,,it was only the 4th or 5th date,
and yes, i should have had a better response,
i never thought it was possible for someone to be in love in such a short amount of time- i was young and foolish
Doesn't matter. That was extremely condescending/arrogant. I hope you have better manners than that now.
When you get blindsided by "I love you" and don't feel it yourself, it's not easy coming up with a good, quick return answer.
I've gotten it too, and didn't know how to respond. I think it went something like, "Aw, that's sweet. I love you too. You're a great friend." Something like that. I tried to take some of the pressure off of her proclamation, but I doubt it worked. We were FWBs. It wasn't supposed to go beyond that.
Really, this is a big problem? I thought this only happens in comedies.
I've never had this happen. I've also ALWAYS had guys say it first...I have never once in my life said it first. My fiance put it to words pretty early on, but I had no problem with him doing that.
