Anyone out there? I need to just roll over and go to bed, but I can't deny this bothers me. I can never find a guy that likes me as I am. They think in trying to impress them but it is the real me. I'm kinda geeky in my interests. My interests, NOT in my appearance. People get this picture of Steve Urkel and Elmira in their head. Um no. Guys I meet expect me to be some scandal loving, hood book reading , oprah worshipping, B.E.T loving chick and I'm just not. Just don't care about beyonce like that. Now I can talk all day about what is next for kit kat updates and what the NSA has up their sleeve and if AMD processors will be around 5 years from now. Now your talking my language. :-)
I like geeky Mod snip: Orphaned. girls when they're cute and sweet, which they usually are. This is definitely a "type". I've known a few, and they were all attractive. That said, I suspect you look more like what you are than you realize.

I cannot speak for all of the male race, but I personally cannot see a negative in a woman who is knowledgeable in the topics you like. Sounds to me like your a woman who can carry on an interesting conversation about many things which is a BIG plus in my book.

I don't know anything about the type of guys that would expect you to be into watching Scandal, read hood books, love BET or worship Oprah but clearly you're not exposing yourself to the most worldly fellas out there. You sound like you may be subconciously limiting the pool of men that you're attracted to and/or see yourself dating. Most mature and intelligent guys that I know (especially black men) would much rather you be able to bring something to the conversation other than BET and Scandal.
My suggestion to you would be to just be yourself and find guys who are interested in what you're interested in...they're out there. You also might want to change up your usual social venues. If you're always meeting guys who expect you to be a certain way, then you're either hanging in the wrong spots or sending out vibes that you don't realize you're sending. Either way, try switching up you're routine and expand your pool of prospective men and you might start seeing some better results.
