I've always read it's about 1/3 of women, around 35%. That's still a lot of women.
Which is why I said that 86% is simply not true. As it stands, I took bigger issue with the statement, "Studies show that women say 'yes' to casual sex with a stranger just as often as men, if they have reason to think the person will be decent in bed." anyway.

I find the part you bolded to be perfectly plausible. Women are reluctant to have casual sex in large part because there's no guarantee they'd only be used as a sex doll and dumped. There's also the matter of STD risk. But if women knew the sex would be satisfying, more women would go for casual sex. That's kind of a no-brainer.

I don't remember any more, but I think the bolding was hers, not mine. Either way, of course the number would go up, but it wouldn't come close to the men's number. STD risks go both ways, as does getting dumped (though I don't see how relevant that is to practitioners of casual sex).
Most of the women that you ask that describe why they aren't interested in casual sex indicate that they want something "more", a connection, the aspects of a relationship that casual sex doesn't offer. While I don't doubt that sexual satisfaction is a factor, it pales in comparison to the aforementioned.

Getting dumped before getting their "O", is the point. Wham-bam-thankyou-ma'am has never gone over well with the ladies.

I am still trying to wrap my mind around the concept of how a woman can think a stranger will be decent in bed, other than by conflating 'hot' and 'decent in bed'.
