Respect for a guy who has an affair on his wife, and dusts his hands off after the last child moves out and says, "my work in this marriage is done"?! Then turns to strangers on the internet to help him out of his predicament: how to break the bad news to a grieving wife. Seriously?

Well, at least we can thank the OP for a thread where posters from both genders are in agreement!

I'm going to start showing these threads to people I date so they realize how great of a catch I am

Yes, all our children are finally on their own so I did what I had to do. Now it's time to be a little selfish, don't you think?

Normally, that would involve rededicating the marriage to each other, and enjoying the empty nest. With each other. Together.

Right, because he doesn't want to see the fireworks. He just wants to walk away and be done. Sorry OP, unless your wife is massively calm and cold as you are, it ain't gonna happen. Don't expect any respect from your kids anytime soon either.

Who wants to bet that the new babe is younger than his daughter?

I will speak with my kids as well and if they want the best for both us, I'm sure they'll understand.

You're wrong, actually, She's 10 years younger, yes. But my daughter is much younger.

We haven't truly been together for a long time so it's time to move on.

Why would you be sure they'll understand? I think most kids would feel outraged on behalf of their betrayed mother, particularly in the midst of their grief about their grandmother and aunt.

32 years???? Remember? Keep to the story. Your slipping! Someone's hitting that edit button, or should be for credibility.
