I don't think many think is impossible.

I think the general consensus is it's "more difficult" since they are less outgoing or likely to voice their opinions and desires.

It's like trying to be a salesman who is afraid sell his own products. You're not going to sell as much as you are the guys who are shouting over you. It doesn't matter if your product is better than theirs, all people are hearing about is the other brands

It's not socially awkward guys who have a problem; it's guys who are ugly and/or anti-social. A good-looking guy will not be perceived as socially awkward. An Autistic Brad Pitt would still be perceived as "hot." Guys who are anti-social have a problem getting a girlfriend because they don't meet enough girls in the first place. Also, the reason a guy is anti-social is often because he's ugly. I don't know a lot of anti-social male models.

I had to force myself to talk to women. Once upon a time all my friends were guys and the only women I knew were the ones I was related to as well.

well that's good, because unfortuneately it is frowned upon guys more than girls if a person is not living on their own yet

I think it's just more difficult for socially awkward guys to have dates, but it can be fixed with more practice and learning how to socialize depending on the situation. I used to be socially awkward back in hs and in my early years of HS, I was teased and bullied which turned me more anti-social. I have friends and I hang out with them, I'm supposed to be heading to an arcade in China Town with friends. But some people tell me I have a mean look on my face which turns people off when I'm around strangers (parties, college classes, etc.)
