My Saturday night wine bar experience was a pleasant one.

I was sure to dress appropriately- no, my ankles did not show! I shudder to think of such an impropriety- I'm not one of "those" women. I was also grateful for the book I brought, as it was the family bible and seconded as a weapon should any untoward man approach me in my virginal innocence.

I was sure to maintain decorum by sipping only a portion of my wine, I did not wish to appear a drunkard, and I left promptly at sundown as a single, unescorted woman at night carries such risks, as all men cannot resist my beauteous nature and, I am sure, would wish to get a glance of my petticoats should the opportunity arise.

No, really, it was a fun experience and one I'll do again. It was like I took myself out on a date and it was a great way to spend a Saturday night.

You are awesome! It's important for us to treat ourselves sometimes.

Yes! I just discovered Meetup dot com, and I think it's very cool. A great way to meet people with the same interests. A wine tasting group is a fantastic idea. It doesn't even have to be wine tasting. It could be the "one glass of wine after work" group. Far more fun that being by yourself.

Like I said, only my opinion, even if I just wanted quiet time if a lady came and hit on me I wouldn't mind at all, hell that might even fix my evening, especially if she is attractive.

Oh, I don't mind doing things alone. I think taking myself on dates is really fulfilling. I love to dress up just for myself and enjoy being in my own skin, especially if it's not for the audience of another person on a date. I think as women sometimes we focus so much on what will please the opposite sex that we lose sight of the fact that, when it comes down to it, we need to please ourselves!

I also don't understand so many posters who think that it wouldn't be fun to go out alone. It genuinely was fun and I plan to make more date nights for myself like this in the future. God, the luxury of it is amazing when you think about it- a night devoted to what you want to do, eat and experience. How many people can say they get to do that? And how many people constantly wish for that?

I agree! It sounds totally fun to me. I should try it. I usually make afternoon dates for myself, but we've got a new wine bar int he neighborhood next to mine! Sounds like it is time for an evening date. And there is another wine bar I haven't got around to trying yet.
