My thinking is, people that are over 50y/o and single would enjoy it more than they would in younger years.
Some do. I think there's just a comfortable place people come to over time where they like having an uncomplicated life. The reality is, having a partner means always having to compromise and take the other persons opinion in to account. Sometimes it is just easier to not have that extra "work" for some folks
OTOH, 4 out of 5 couples that I know who have married in recent years have been in their 50s. Maybe they had enough of the single life .
Yes. Some 50's I know have been unhappily married and divorced, and enjoy their solitude. Others are still looking for their special someone. You can't generalize at all.

Nothing in my OP is a generalization. I asked specific questions to a specific demographic.
I like being alone, but I also like being in a relationship.
While I am alone, I am learning about myself. But, I wouldn't shut a man out who was interested.
I enjoy being able to just come & go without having to consider another person. At the same time, I never minded telling someone where I was going & when I'd be back. Since I'm single, I never have to think about making dinner, because I just don't make dinner. It's too much hassle for just me.
I know quite a few people in that group. They seem fine. They're all smart and attractive enough to have plenty of options.
I think most wouldn't mind being in a relationship under the right circumstances, but they prefer living alone and being able to set the terms of their social activities.
Very few of the single people I know want to avoid having an intimate relationship, so they're not antisocial curmudgeons.
