He's 3. This has nothing to do with age. It has to do with the things people lie about. People lie about some things and not others. A person might lie about something on their resume. That doesn't mean they'll lie about whether they're married.

I don't like dishonesty, but when it comes to photos, people can look extremely different in their photos than they do in real life. Probably has something to do with the lighting, etc. I can look like several different people in pictures, it's crazy.

It's just a weak thing to do. I'm 47. I own it. It took me all those years to get here. I'm not going to deny my life's experience. Thing is, I could. If I shaved 5 years off my age in my profiles, no one would suspect anything. I could probably knock it down to 40 and no one would be the wiser. But there is no point to that.

If his parents let him get away with it, absolutely.

That's the other thing about lying. When you readily forgive people for it, it teaches them that it's okay. Then they get bolder about it.

Lying behavior that is reinforced begets future lying behavior. At any age. Behavior 101.

And what if the text of your profile immediately disclosed that you were, in fact, 47? Should I still declare that you're a liar?

Show me where the lying behavior of a 3-year old is being reinforced.

This makes absolutely no sense. Please read what I wrote.

This means my age IS immediately disclosed on my profiles. Heck, it's on my profile here.

I said I COULD make it seem like I was younger, just like the liar you dated did. But I don't. There is no point. If anything, it's pretty awesome to hear, "No, you're not 47. You don't look it!"

Hah! As it happens, I actually work daily with three-year olds, and witness all kinds of behavioral reinforcement.

Actually, I would hope that an adult in his or her 40s would have a better-developed sense of right, wrong, and honesty than a three-year-old!

And on that note, I'm off for the evening.
