Sorry OP, but sometimes the man=bad sentiment on CD-R gets a little thick at times. It is unfortunate, it's no doubt horrific, and IMO should be prosecuted and penalized to the fullest extent of the law. To answer your question I have purchased the most potent pepper spray FL law will allow for my SO along with an ear peircing alarm for her keychain. I've never been crazy about the idea of her working graveyard shifts at the nursing home. She also runs on an ex railroad track converted to a running trail and similar trails throughout out state have had occurrences of rape and murder since there inception.
I think women should look into any and all defensive measures availible and be vigilant.

Very proud of my son and his friends for preventing a drunk guy they didn't know well from "looking in on" a female friend of theirs who had gone to her room to sleep after drinking too much at a party she was having. Her female friends were more than capable of doing that.
Well, I've never seen anything like rape happen in person, but I read the police report weekly and apparently too many women have a problem when they leave drinking and entertainment establishments at 3-4am (along with passing out at college dorms, etc). There is always a story of how men harass and attempt to steal from women at such times.
If women want to drink and dance and go home early in the morning, they should definitely should definitely travel in relatively large numbers.
