Weird text - why do people do this? (dates, boyfriend, long distance)

These rude and immature comments are really not appropriate. I was tolerant of this sort of thing before but it seems to be a growing issue on this web site. Personal attacks are a violation of the terms of service.
Post reported and user added to my ignore list.
That wasn't a personal attack, more like a basic observation.
I think your initial instincts were correct - he's probably looking for a local booty call. The fact that you had been asking him out instead of the other way around is rare (women rarely if ever do the pursuing) so he's convinced you were, and possibly still are, attracted to him. Which is why he didn't worry about keeping in touch for 16 months before suddenly finding the time to meet with you.
What's so interesting about his mentality is that he doesn't consider 45 mins. away to be "local". Most places I've lived, it takes about that long just to drive across town.

Yeah...
Three questions I have...
Is the person who who posted that a moderator or just a member?
If that person is a member, is it really a good idea to point out to whomever posted the reply that what they posted is 1) a personal attack, 2) against the terms of service, and 3) they will be reported?
Shouldn't the moderators only deal with this and not members?
Because another forum I am a member of, if a member did this in a particular thread, a moderator would reply in that thread that their issue needs to be reported to them via the report button and that members are not allowed to engage in this type of activity.

My understanding is that any member can report a post and it's up to the mods to decide if something warrants deletion or whatever.....

I understand about the reporting part...
What I am wondering is this....
1) Posting the fact that someone's post in not appropriate, 2) why it is not appropriate, and 3) the fact that the person who posted that post has been reported... all within the thread for everyone to see.
The other forum I belong to does not allow that. Using the report button is fine, but doing the above is not.
