Online shopping and google street view is great, you can at least rule out stuff that just looks awful....
I wished we had used it a long time ago, we went house shopping in the phoenix area and we looked at some stuff that if we had had google street view at the time we wouldn't have even bothered with at all, you pull into a crappy looking neighborhood with bars on the windows to see a home and if you'd have done you're homework up front you wouldn't even bother looking at it in the first place.
Nothing replaces going to and actually looking around, but you can at least rule out stuff that is completely crappy ahead of time....
Chow, unfortunately the town is so small there is no google street view however, we actually saw the place today, drove all around it but did not realize what we were looking at.
We may be headed back home tomorrow to look at it which is fine, I'm already tired and another day of being tired isn't going to make much difference.
My pickups are lifted so it's easy to roll under with the creeper to change the oil.....
My pickup is that way. My car, nope. I can get it done, but it involves driving up on a couple of blocks.
I can roll on creeper under the axles of a semi truck. I have to line up just right and avoid the differential housing. Lift axles are a whole other creature. It all depends on the suspension part. Airbags with the bar across the back is often a "no go."
I wish I had a 13 speed transmission on my pickup. It would be super handy to split the gears. Was thinking about that yesterday pulling a couple of hills.
Oh, and a Jake brake for gliding down the other side and getting whoa'd.

True, google maps doesn't have the entire earth covered... at least yet... LOL......well, like I said, really at the end of the day, you still have to actually visit. The benefit of google maps is at least you're able to at least rule stuff out that just looks bad... cause most likely, if it looks bad in pics it's probably worse in real life...... same goes the other way, if something looks really great in pics, you still need to go visit to verify.......
I still remember driving around the phoenix suburbs with a Thomas guide in hand and a list of addresses and a couple were in such lousy neighborhoods we could have blown those off ahead of time... nothing irritates me worse than wasting time, and some of the houses we looked at were complete wastes of time, sitting in some nasty gross neighborhoods that you'd never live in even if you got some excellent deal on the house, not places you'd want to call home.

There have been times I was disappointed in those oil change places.
One time they didn't put grease in all my zerk fittings.......& they forgot the U Joints zerks
One time the oil was a quart low when they were finished......always check your oil level.
