i saw this pic on fb where a couple was walking on the sidewalk and there was a comment from a girl complaining that the guy is doing the wrong thing by not walking on the curbside. I didn't comment but i was like "why and who notices that lol" in my head.

This got me thinking...when guys park their car, do women expect them to walk around and open their door too? and why?

I personally wouldn't do that cuz i think its unnecessary. I mean i'd hold a door open and let them enter the car first if we were in the cab but thats just common courtesy towards anyone.

Just elements of "Chivalry" in modern society. Some people do those things out of courtesy, some expect them as a sign of courtesy, and others do not.

To each their own.

The reason why i thought i'd ask is because I am shot down when the topic comes up because i disagree. I just don't see the need to expect it, thats all.

Honestly I don't think I'd date someone who expected that kind of stuff, sounds high maintenance. It's one thing to do that stuff every so often to be nice, but if she demands it all the time it gets annoying..

I am somewhat old fashioned. I hold doors and stand streetside.

I don't expect it but Mr. CSD does that often and has done that often since I met him. He does not do it all of the time though.
Mr. CSD always walks on my left though because I am partially deaf in my right ear so when we are chatting I can hear him if he is on my left side.

So you took a survey of girls (are you in grade school) and a few said yes or were you actually out with girls and they confronted you that they expected you to open their door? Have you actually experienced this IRL. What was your sample size, a few=? out of how many.

When is the last time you actually saw a guy get out and go around and open the car door?
