I refuse to work myself to death, not see my kids grow up, have no life other than a career, so my wife can stay home, watch oprah, and get cozy with the cable guy...no way
You don't trust your wife, so your situation is different.

I don't know ANYONE who works 80 hours per week, BTW. Not one single person. And I live in a "high-rent" area.

I know in my case, getting cozy with the cable guy is a definite regular occurrence.

Oh, wait, no it's not.

We actually don't even HAVE cable, which, conveniently, cuts down on the watching Oprah.

And is Oprah even on anymore?

That makes one of us.

I don't know a single one-income family where one parent works 80 hours per week. That is my experience.

I'm inclined to agree with this. If you do the math, 60 hrs. = 10 hrs./day for 6 days. Bump that up to 12 hrs./day for 6 days, and you get 72 hrs. Still not 80. The only way to get 80 would be to work long hours 7 days/week. I doubt the OP is working 12 hr. days + 8 hrs. on Sundays.

And we haven't heard from the OP in ages, since we started pointing out that his wife must have been as fried as he is now, back when she was doing all the homemaking + schooling the kids + running an online business. Working even 72 hrs./week is not at all healthy, so if he's doing anything close to that, he should definitely scale back, or opt out of whatever this demanding position is. Money isn't worth losing your health over and dying young. I hope his life insurance plan is funded over-the-top if he wants to keep up the schedule he claims to have.

Well then why, exactly, did you add this part?
