My wife is only about 8 years younger, but my FWB is 27 years younger. Nobody really seems to care or comment when I'm out with either or both, though, so I haven't had to deal with rude people.
it is because they think you are out with the wifey and your daughter, duh!
There's a 21 year age gap between me and my wife. Some people are ok with it but there are a lot of people who really have a major problem and seem to want to let their opinion be known even when it's really not welcome. It's becoming very irritating. I just wanted some advice on how to deal with this.
how young is she? i cannot imagine there is no validity to this repetition but it could be

Hey, I totally support it if your wife is the older one.
Since you're asking for advice on how to handle this, I will presume that your wife is the one who is 21 years older than you. A mature adult would know that you can't control what others say, believe, or think, and frankly wouldn't care.
Just tell them you prefer older women, no shame in your game. Your wife seems to 'get it' since she doesn't seem to notice or be bothered. Good for her.

They could wear T-shirts announcing who's who just to keep the public straight.
Hmmm. I remember a guy here on the city forums talking about his much younger girlfriend, and some issues he was having with her.
Most people kind of made fun of him, for dating a girl so young, and she was just with him for the money and security, and so on and so forth.
To be fair, if this is the poster I'm thinking of, he posted saying his girlfriend was using him for college money and so she could quit her Wal-Mart job - I mean that was the entire point of the post - and that he was the one who was bothered by their age difference.
Sometimes people bring this on themselves by always highlighting the age difference which naturally will make people think maybe all ISN'T well...and sometimes people see what may not be there, like the guy who insisted people gave him and his wife dirty looks constantly. Didn't seem realistic. If such couples have no problem with the age difference then it should really be no big deal, shrug it off...I just think once in a while, it's the complainer who is seeing more than what is there. If someone literally SAYS "you're too old for her/him," well, how base. Laugh, say you are happy, tell the person with a smile to mind his or her own business.

We could, but we won't, since it doesn't matter if anyone knows, and probably best if they don't, given prevailing biases. But a set of "I'm with sexy!" T-shirts might be fun - and confusing.
